Welcome to The Jimmo Articles!

Although the main jimmo.org pages are about my music, I also spend a great deal of time exploring other areas.  These pages are where I keep my thoughts and reasoning on areas of particular interest, especially consciousness, computers, science and so on (although I will almost certainly digress into other topics from time to time).

Some may describe what I do as “armchair reasoning” and they don’t mean this as a compliment. However, I would argue that when one is cogitating the only tool you really need is a brain.  As I carry one of these around in my skull, my reasoning is inherently portable.  This means I can reason from my armchair just as well as anywhere else.  Similarly, pondering philosophical issues requires no physical laboratory or particular location, so I can think of no better place than a comfy armchair for that sort of reasoning either!

By profession, Jimmo is currently an engineering director for a major multinational IT company with primariy responsibility for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. To focus on his business and management responsibilities, Jimmo stopped officially writing code a few years ago (and some would say this is a very good thing). Despite that, Jimmo still writes a lot of code in his spare time, which is also shared with his other primary activities which include being a father, as well as an amateur musician, songwriter and composer.
